From Fr. Adam: Parishioner Ruth Hall passed from this life into the fullness of new life with God early Monday morning, October 12th at age 93. I first met Ruth in the summer of 2014 at Westerly Hospital, where she was being treated for a respiratory issue. I was amazed to find her in such good spirits. All she wanted to do was walk down the hall to see her friend Clare Kenyon who was also a patient. It was that day I first heard her speak, but it wasn’t until after several more visits at her home, at nursing facilities, and finally at Academy Point that I realized her normal speech pattern always ended in a giggle. It was infectious. Every time I visited her, I’m sure I left with her trademark smile plastered on my own face.
I will miss visiting Ruth, but I am glad that her time with us has ended in the way she desired: peacefully, with no pain, surrounded by her children — not to mention surrounded by the love of God inviting her home at last.
Please join me in keeping Ruth’s family in your prayers during these days.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of your servant Ruth, whom you loved into bodily existence these ninety-three years. We ask that you make your presence known to those who love her, that they may be enfolded in your love even as Ruth is enfolded in your fullness. And we pray that in our own time, you may bring us with her into your heavenly home. May Ruth rest in peace and rise in glory, in Christ’s name. Amen.
We will be celebrating Ruth’s life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 22nd at 10am here at St. Mark’s. All are welcome. A private internment will follow the next day at the family plot in Portsmouth, RI.
